Mercè Ghost is a famous player shadow founder of the company La Cònica / Lacònica composed of Alba Zapater and herself, which lasted until 2010. Currently, Mercè Ghost works alone with his new company called La Cònica. It has created a last show titled “Under Minimum” which premiered at the International Festival of Puppet Theatre of Palma de Mallorca in May 2011, and at the International Theater Festival de Bonecos de Belo-Horizonte (Brazil) in June 2011. Now she’s working in an international project that involves several institutions of Catalonia, France and Brazil.
His enormous prestige in the world of shadow puppetry and object theater approached from the shadows, is the result of a series of works that once revolutionized this kind of theatre, based on crossing the shadows with other artistic languages. Titles like “Shadows of Found Objects” (1995, winner of the Jose Maria Carbonell Price 1997), “Shades of Glass” (made with jazz music, in 1997), “Trans Fugues”, created in collaboration with the band Mal (Mary Davidson, Anna Subirana and Laura Teruel), Badalona 1999, Serra d’Or award 2000, marked an era. Exchange with other artists, are born the following works: “Between the shadow and light,” with the sculptor action Mireia Clotet, “Tomorrow everyone in the shade”, action-concert with the musicians Joan Sanmartí and Angel Pereira, and “Shadow of China” by Joan Manuel Serrat, and “Les copines d’Helena en el Boulevard del crim”, a musical shadow play presented at the Festival Grec in Barcelona 2002. Also she did the staging of the opera “Venus and Adonis” by John Blow in the Festival d’Opera of Butxaca (Barcelona, 2002).
